Club History

The North East American Car Club was formed in the early 80s under the name of The Mustang Owners
Club North East, but had changed by 1990 because by then, our members were driving all makes of
American cars, not just Mustangs. Since the change to the North East American Car Club our
membership has grown steadily and we now have over 100 vehicles in the club. These range from
classic 50s cars with fins and chrome through 60s muscles cars with powerful engines to modern
classics with all options.

We all like to drive our vehicles and do this by attending as many shows held throughout the
North East of England as we can. Many of our members fly the club flag as shows as far away
as Wales and the South of England. The club also organizes cruises, barbecues and other social
events (any excuse to show off) and of course, we have our annual “Fins & Chrome” show which
is held at Preston Hall Park, Stockton on Tees on May 28th and 29th 2006.

We are always on the lookout for new members and you do not have to own an american car to join.
All we ask is that you share our interest in this good old Detroit iron.

Club meetings are held on the first and third Sunday of each month At The Angel Inn, Eighton Lodge,
Birtley, Tyne and Wear at 8.00pm. We don’t mind if anyone wants to come along for a taster
before joining.

We also have our own magazine called Yank News, which is full of the latest information of current
car happenings in the area and also any car items for sale.
